On April 22nd, I am going to be participating in the 2nd Annual “Dancing with the Stars and Stripes” ballroom dance competition, hosted by the Veterans Resource Centers of America (VRC). It’s just like Dancing with the Stars, except teams will compete to raise money to support our Veterans.
Too often, Veterans return from one fight overseas, only to discover another fight here at home: PTSD, homelessness, among other issues. No Veteran should have to struggle to survive and build a life, and all deserve our unyielding and unwavering support. Thankfully there are organizations like the VRC, which are there to provide it.
The VRC, which is based here in Sonoma County, has been around for 43 years now. In 2015 alone, they provided services to over 15,000 Veterans, served almost 180,000 meals to homeless Vets, and provided housing to 3,000 more. Since the VRC was formed, they have experienced a 95% success rate rehabilitating and reintegrating Veterans back into civilian life. Few organizations are making as big of an impact for Vets!
To show my support and to help raise money, I'm going to do my best to train these two left feet to cut a rug with my professional dance partner, April Karr, on April 22nd, at 7:30 PM. I truly hope you will join us by buying a ticket and attending to show your support. 100% of your contribution will go to the VRC.
I couldn’t be more proud to help raise funds for this cause, and I hope you can join the effort!
